Description:

Insta-Pac™ is a liquid copolymer designed for fast field mixing, viscosity building, and shale stabilization in aqueous drilling fluids. Insta-Pac™ is certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 60, Drinking Water Treatment Chemicals - Health Effects.

Recommended use:

Insta-Pac™ can be used to inhibit clay and shale hydration, as well as an additive in bentonite drilling fluids to increase viscosity and lower fluid loss. It may also be used with Volclay® Crumbles to make a high solids grout.

Characteristics:

• Fast mixing.
• 50% active ingredient.

• Forms a tight, thin filter cake in unstable formations.

• Maintains borehole integrity in horizontal and vertically drilled holes.

• Eliminates clay and shale swelling, bit balling, and sticking problems.

• Excellent additive with Volclay® Crumbles for a high solids grout.

Mixing and applications:

When using Insta-Pac™, pretreat mix water with soda ash to a pH above 7.0. Always mix bentonite first, then add Insta-Pac™. To break down InstaPac™, add 1/2 gallon of chlorine per 100 gallons of drilling fluid.

Insta-Pac™ mixing ratios:

Added to freshwater: 0.5 qt. per 100 gallons water

Added to bentonite system: 0.5 qt. per 100 gallons drilling fluid

Added to air foam: 0.5 qt. per 100 gallons foam

Added to grout system: 8 oz. per 33 gallons water and 1 bag Volclay® Crumbles

Packaging:

1-gallon jugs, six jugs per case, or 5-gallon plastic pails, 32 pails per pallet.

All pallets are plastic-wrapped.
